Sonam Bajwa was scared to do kissing scenes in Bollywood, wondered, “Is my family going to understand that this is for a film”

Sonam Bajwa, the name is quite popular in the Punjabi film industry. She has worked with some of the biggest names and has created a name for herself. Over the years, the actress has received offers from Bollywood but she turned down many due to many reasons but one of them was her hesitation towards filming kissing scenes. She wondered how her family, and Punjabi audience would react to such intimate scenes.

In July 2023, she will complete 10 years in the industry. Speaking to Film Companion, Sonam Bajwa recently said, “In Bollywood, I said no to a couple of things because I said, is Punjab going to be okay with it? Because we have that mentality that families should be okay, families should be watching. I was very scared to do a kissing scene in a film back then, because I thought how are people going to respond to it? How are these people who have made me who I am today, are they going to relate to it? Are they going to understand this is for the script? Is my family going to understand that this is for a film?”

Sonam Bajwa had reportedly auditioned for the role of Mohini in Farah Khan’s Happy New Year in 2014; Deepika Padukone played the leading role. She has also starred in movies including Bala (2019) and Street Dancer 3D (2020) in smaller roles. The actress said that she was careful in the past but is now open to seeing what Hindi movie makers have to offer her now.

Meanwhile, Sonam Bajwa will next star in Carry On Jatta 3 with Gippy Grewal. Directed by the Smeep Kang, Carry on Jatta 3 is a family comedy that promises to be an absolute riot. Written by Naresh Kathooria, the film is produced by Humble Motion Pictures and its worldwide distribution will be done by OMJEE Group. The film is slated for a release on June 29 this year.
